Bowling Fundraiser

On Saturday, June 27, 2009. I sponsored a bowling tournament to help raise funds for my church's new parking lot. My cousin has his comedy show the same night, therefore we were competing for participation. The tournament was a lot of fun. I think my pastor may be a ringer. He bowled very well. Lisa and Cager were the winners with a combined score of 400 for the three games. It was definitely fun and a fundraiser that I will do again. Our efforts help raised a slightly over $400.00. Way to go Church of the Living God, PGT.

Dora-June 13, 2009

The girls getting their pose on.
Waiting for the show to start back up.

Jocalyn and I.

Many of you know that I keep my little cousins on the regular. Jocalyn is my girl. She is bad as can be, but I continue to spoil her rotten. She loves Dora the Explorer, therefore, I bought us some tickets for the show. True to herself, she didn't want anyone to go except for us. I had invited other family member to bring their kids along and she was not happy. She finally warmed up to the idea as long as her brother and sister didn't go with us. She got her wish. She watched the show in amazement and cried her eyes when the show was over. She throw her bag of $2.00 skittles and balled. I tried to comfort her by telling her that she could watch it when we got home. It did no good. So I had to threaten to spank her. That did the trick. Days after the show she kept telling me thanks for taking her to see Dora and Boots. That's what it's all about. Creating Memories.

Debutant Ball

Our combined families showing support.

My daughter had her Cotillion on Saturday, June 20, 2009. I knew that she wouldn't win Miss Essence, because it was based on who raised the most funds. We spent our efforts raising money for her to attend Washington University this summer. God blessed us tremendously. Friends and family really came through BIG! However, she looked and she had a wonderful time eventhough she didn't win. She is still my Miss Essence. She has so many wonderful qualities that I am always amazed. She is my still my little princess.

My cousin Al was the Toast Master and Mrs. Caffey was the Toast Misstress. I am so proud of him. He has accomplished so many things and has turned out to be a great dad and humanitarian. He gives so much back to our community.

Me and my baby girl!

The Cotillion was fun. I love any chance to get dressed up. I was thankful for my family and friends that came out to show their love and support.

Nervousness

It is at this moment that I realize that I have no life of my own. Everyone knows that my daughter and I are very close. She will be gone most of the summer attending SLU and Washington University. My baby is really growing up. I am very excited for her and hopeful that this experience will enrich her mind and spirit. However, I am very nervous about not having her around. I don't know what I am going to do in order to entertain myself. Yes, I am aware that this is truly sad. Therefore, I have decided to go back to school to get a 2nd Master's Degree and to strive for attaining National Board Certification. Pray that I am not getting in over my head. I'm excited and nervous.I am asking God for guidance.

Senior Pics

Just picked up A'Kya's seniors pics from Sutberry Photograph. Love them. I am looking forward to showing them off to everyone. It is truly going to be a tough decision trying to decide which ones to purchase. Here's a sample.

Blessing keep flowing!

I am so excited! A'Kya was accepted into St. Louis University's Summer Enrichment Medical Program. Her summer will be full and she will be getting prepared for college. I am so proud of her.

AHS Prom 2009

Kya and Brooke

Kya and Corbin

On Saturday, May 16, 2009 Alton High School had their prom titled 'Cirque Jungle'. A'Kya was so excited about the prom. She had her nails and toes done on Friday night. At 8:00 am Shalon began doing her hair. She was nominated for prom queen so she needed a hair style that she could rock her crown with. She was so excited that she wanted to start getting dress at 11:30. Anyone that knows A'Kya knows that she hates to be late for anything. Her and Corbin went to prom sporting his dad's Infiniti truck. They had dinner at Gentelines in Alton. The prom was held at SIUE and the after prom at Bowl Haven. Yes, I did chaperon. A'Kya didn't win prom queen, but she was so happy for her friend Brooke, (her soccer teams awesome goalie) who did win. I was so proud the way that she handled the loss with grace and class. She congratulated Brooke and told me that she was just happy to be nominated. That's my girl!

Kudos

On Thursday, May 7, 2009, A'Kya was inducted into the National Honor Society. I am so proud of her accomplishment. When she was in elementary school she attended her first graduation. She was full of curiosity and ambition back then. She asked me why some of the kids had on red graduation gowns and why the others wore gray. I explained to her why these young people were fortunate enough to sport the red graduations gowns. She told me right then and there that she was going to graduation wearing a red gown. She has worked so hard throughout her school career. I am happy to see her dream becoming reality.

The Beginning

I first started blogging when I was in Thailand. I never thought of using for personal use until now. Time seems to always be flying by and we often fail to keep in touch with family and friends as much as we would like to. My friend Jaycie has a blog so I decided to start one. I am hoping this will keep family and friends updated on the happenings of the Adams' family.
